Random thoughts when I should be in bed . . .

Am I a dork because I send email reminders to myself or is that just a symptom of a deeper dorkiness?

But my life is pretty fractured and sometimes I'm at home and I remember something I'll need to do or get or remember at school . . . so, a quick email to that account and voila! I'm reminded of it at school. Same for the reverse. I feel like there is SO much information crammed in my skull lately that some of it will leak out and emailingreminders to myself is a way to keep it from being lost for good.

Or at least that's what I tell myself in the depths of my dorkiness!

Today, The Boy Wonder got a Life Skill Award at school (for showing the lifeskill of being sensitive to the feelings and needs of others -- that's my caring boy!). Anyway, it was at 8:50am when I'm in full teacher mode. So, I didn't think I could make it but Mr Wonderful was at MacWorld so he couldn't come . . . ah! So, I got my kids working and when I looked at the clock . . . 8:50am. Yippee! I gave the next door teacher a heads up and then ran over to the MP room just as the said, "Mrs B.'s class." And, I watched with pride as they called him up. He didn't see me at first but a perk of being a teacher at your kids' school is help -- the principal got his attention after he got up on stage and pointed to me. I waved and blew kisses -- he waved back and blew a kiss and then realized he'd done it right on stage and got all embarrassed! Soooooo cute.

After I got back to my class, I told the kids what I'd snuck out to do. And, was immediately asked, "Did you cry?" :) Thankfully, this time I didn't -- not like when they got to go to the Kindergarten Concert and watch me sniffle as I watched. Oh well, that's real life, kids. Mommies sometimes cry when their kids are doing something cute!

Or this Mommy does anyway!

Better they should know it now so it doesn't scare them on the last day of school when I'm crying over them!

Besides, who am I kidding, after I sliced my finger open and blubbered in front of them, I have very little dignity to draw around myself at moments like that!

Phew!

Sometimes all that worry causes great relief!

I just got off the phone with Financial Aid and their answer was "No problem. We fixed it. Your hold will be lifted and you can go ahead and reg ister tomorrow."

Hot Damn!

And, while I was at it, I checked my grades again and I got an A for last semester. That means I've gotten straight As in this program. I'm so pleased and proud.

I can just feel the stress liftingaway.

So much catching up to do

Great trip to Morro Bay. Too short, of course, but still really great. Saw the whole gang. Drank some great martinis with garlic/jalepeno olives -- oh my goodness! So good. Really nice connecting with T- and F- and R- and K- again. Missed R- this time -- sad he couldn't join us. Mr Wonderful and I went and saw Star Wars III. Really good. We loved it. They were givingaway free posters that show Darth Vadar and say, "Who's Your Daddy?" for the Father's Day weekend. Too funny. We got one for g. :)

Trip home was wild. Drove to SV and dropped off R- and J-. Orig inally, I was going to spin off and Mr Wonderful would go get the kids and I'd go get the dogs and we'd meet at home with extra time for me to prep for today's class. But, when I called SF, I figured out that Mom was REALLY countingon my coming up so I did. It was good. I got to have extra time with the kids. They were WIPED out -- so tired. They had a blast though. Mom and Ig took them to Marine World on Saturday -- so much fun. They got to pet and feed dolphins. Amazing! Then, they did a concert in the park on Sunday. The Princess was wiped so she didn't like it but The Boy Wonder and Igor had a blast.

I got a bunch of prep in last night which was great. Poor Mr Wonderful totally slept and watched TV while I did that. He did all the drivingyesterday!

My first day of school was today. It went well. The kids were great. I was expecting22 but ended up with 14. That will likely go up though -- fingers crossed. There were lots of issues to work out today which was fine. Flexibility. The kids were great -- very sweet, really cooperative, very nice kids. My aide, Samuel, was there almost all day which was really great because he speaks Spanish and I don't. Very nice! I don't think I'll have him all day everyday though but still, it was great.

I was exhausted when I got home. Mr Wonderful headed off for a meeting and I had some desk work to do. Then I checked my email . . . and learned . . . I PASSED THE CSET!!! Yee-haw! I didn' think it was possible for me to have passed the whole bloody thing but I did (at least according to my unofficial scores!). I'm STOKED!!!!! I worked so hard. This test was so hard. And, it's all so important for my career!

So, it was a good day all around!

Well, it's 4:30 now and no call back so I guess I had two strikes and I'm out. Not bilingual and not fully credentialed. Darn it. And, yet, wow will it make the summer easier now!

Freakin' Out!

Well, life is amazing, isn't it? Especially for a recovering perfectionist with control issues. Sigh. Is there a 12 step program for that . . . but I digress.

Anyway, as if our weekend plans aren't complicated enough. I might be getting a job.

Teaching.

In Watsonville.

For the Summer.

With a training day on Thursday.

This Thursday.

And a work day on Friday.

This Friday.

You know, the day that I'm supposed to to deliver my most precious and wonderful babies into the safe arms of their Mimi & Bumpa while I tootle off to Morro Bay for a carefree and reckless weekend of friviosity. (Look it up. It's a word. I swear. You have to believe me -- I have a Bachelors Degree in ENGLISH! Ask Dr English!)

ACK! So, my advisor calls me and says (in a message), "You still interested in teaching summer school in Pajaro? I gave a head teacher your name and number. Call me. Bye!" So, M- calls me (oddly enough just as I had her picture up on my screen because I was researching the schools in Watsonville that were going to be doing summer school stuff). Anyway, we chat and she knows that I'm NOT bilingual and I only have an emergency credential and that I prefer younger grades but can do anything. She'll call me back shortly when she finds out if we can proceed. The training day is Thursday and then there is a work day on Friday. School runs June 20-July 22. EEEEEEEEEEK!

I honestly don't know if I hope I get it or not . . . I like lots of lead time with stuff to get organized. On the other hand, this is real life and not rehearsal and what am I waiting for. I'm worried about the kids though-- I have spun out all these bigplans for them and they'll be happy if we put them in a summer program for a month and then do the bigplans but still . . .

EEEEEEK!
