Life

Well, I've just been swamped lately. Summer School keeps me busy and I'm obsessed with the 4/5 Combo job at BCE. I can't think of anything else but it's time to think of other things, for sure!!! I've got SO much school work to do and I've hardly even thought about it in weeks. This weekend, one of my goals is to get it all out and organized again so I can make progress! I've got limited time!!!

We're going to do a dump run this weekend. We're having some guys come in and clear all the weeds, branches, and debris out of our backyard. Hurrah! Then we can get started on some actual landscaping. Amazing! Greg is really awesome when he gets a goal in mind!

This weekend is 4th of July (4 day weekend for me -- hopefully I'll get my head together this weekend). Then, the next weekend, I take the kids to Carson City to spend a week with Mom and Igor. Wow! Wild times!

So, that's a quick update from the Edge.

Catching up

Okay, so I've been busy! At any rate, here's what's been going on.

That day of packing up at school was nightmarish! Miscommunication resulted in people expecting to shampoo my carpet before I knew I needed to be out. Not pretty. Of course I wish I'd handled it all with more grace but it all worked out eventually. My boss apologized at the end for rushing me out and let me know that it doesn't look good for a job for next year. That's sad. Really sad. There are jobs at SLE though so I have my fingers crossed!

Since then, I've been relaxing (although I'm still not done with my responsibilities!). Crafty Chix was awesome. I made an adorable felt bunny! Soooooo cute! We did Great America for Father's Day. Totally fun, wet, and sunburny (for me, anyway). That night, Gage woke up twice with his ears hurting bad. So, I got almost nothing done yesterday, damn it all. Gotta to email K and let her know I have to change my appointment today for checking out and being done.

So, today, I have my Summer School staff meeting. Wonder how that's going to go. I went through all the stuff last night that P and I put together and there is a lot missing. Damn. Hopefully I can get over there today and get some of it back. Weirdness.

So, that mostly catches us up. I miss Mom being here -- it was sooooo nice. We rarely seem to have TIME together and we did that this time. She'll be back for a long visit when she brings the kids back. Hopefully, that will be super nice too.

Better. Cautious but better.

Well, I'm feeling better. Totally normal except for a gurgling stomach. The mocha may be a bad idea but I simply require it to function. So, total damage? I feel caught up on sleep which is good. I lost 3 lbs which is also good but totally meaningless in the real world. I had the lesson driven home that I need to have real emergency sub plans on hand in case of an emergency (like this one!). Waiting until 2am to drive into work and do sub plans and call in for a sub is NOT a good plan. Sigh. But, over all, I survived. My house is a disaster. Greg did a great job with everything but didn't do the dishes at all. Sigh. That will be fun tonight. Oh boy.

Oh, and he told me that the singer in his two bands might be coming to spend the night tonight at our house. He's a priest and is doing a wedding in Monterey and needs somewhere to crash. My filthy house should fit the bill. I managed not to brain Greg for inviting someone to stay when I've been so sick. Guess I'll be cleaning house tomorrow afternoon while he takes the kids to soccer. Oh joy.

Bleh.

I feel like -- well -- crap. Sore throat. Achey-painy. Ugh. Teaching tomorrow will be a real treat! Oh joy.

Forgot to report

My mammogram results came back good. Yay! But, now, at age 42, I need to have one every year. Oh joy.

Mammogram

Got my boobs squished today. And I find I am pretty nervous about the results! There are good reasons to be nervous (I have an aunt who died of it several years ago -- she is only like 15 years older than me). But still, no reason for ME to be worried -- I've not noticed anything. Still, kind of on edge waiting to hear the results (next week, sometime).

Done and done.

Okay.

I'm done. And, done! Here is the current status in our house.

1. I turned in everything I could at 12:00 midnight last night. Damn. I did not finish one of my assignments. I am feeling REALLY down on myself right now. Are there reasons why I didn't finish LAST NIGHT????? Yup. Do any of them change the fact that I shouldn't have been finished 4 assignments last night? Nope. It just sucks. I screwed up. Not sure what the ramifications are yet. We'll see.

2. The Princess is WAY better but not before scaring the pants off me. In the midst of my cram session yesterday, I checked her temp at she was at 101.2. So, I gave her a dose of ibuprofen. 1/2 hour later, I checked her again -- still hot (really hot). Took her temp 103.9. Yup. That's a nice thing to see on the thermometer. So, I called the doctor who hadn't returned Mr Wonderful's call of that morning. The receptionist was not real helpful but she did finally figure out what to do and handed me off to a nurse. The nurse was awesome. Told me to give her Tylenol while she went and talked to the doctor. So, dosed her with liquid Tylenol (not an easy task -- she hates medicine) and waited. They called in a prescription for me to Walgreen's. And told me to give her a cool bath. Fortunately, this was when Mr W got off the phone (poor guy -- he's been swampped too) and took over. Gave her the bath (taking her temp right along) and let me know when she was down to 100.2 again. Whew! Then he went and got her meds (and got himself a glucose tester -- more on that later). With two doses of antibiotics in her, she hasn't needed any fever meds. Her temp got up to 100.2 again this morning but was at 97.7 (normal for her) this morning. YAY! First time she's had a temp below 99 since Monday night.

Yawn.

So. It's 6:35am. I'm barely conscious. Mocha not quite cool enough to drink (only those tiny tongue-scalding sips that are very unsatisfying). I'm reelingly tired due to late nights cramming to get all my work done for my program. Scared that I won't get it done. Anyway . . .

The Princess is sick. She has what The Boy Wonder had last week -- fever up to 102 for no clear reason. Virus. Let it run its course. Oh joy. Midnight:30, we got her up to give her meds and she was 101.9 and talking her little silly head off. Chatterbox! I figured she'd sleep in some this morning but no. I can hear her in her room singing. I'm on the other side of the house, if I can hear her, Mr Wonderful can certainly hear her in the next room with the doors open. Heh.

The trouble is that tomorrow, The Princess has a HUGE field trip to Elkhorn Slough to see birds and experience the wildlife. Poor thing is totally bummed about possibly missing it. But, she's being brave. I told her I'd take her out if she can't go on the field trip and she's happy about that.

The Boy Wonder has been giving me fits. Don't know WHAT is up with him. Monday morning he didn't want to go to school. It was awful. Clinging to me, crying. His teacher (bless her!!!) had to hold him while I peeled myself off and left. Sigh. She called me in my room later to let me know that it took him 45 minutes to join the group. On the upside, it was Math that called him out of his funk. That's my boy. Last night he completely melted down after dinner. Crying miserably because "It wasn't fair that she got to sit on the rocker and he didn't." Of course since they were BOTH supposed to be eating their dinner, they didn't get much sympathy. I suspect he's picking up on my stress levels and showing me what it feels like to live with it. Swell.

I got the camera lens (telephoto) that I ordered for my camera yesterday. I'm not even opening the box until Saturday morning. It'll suck me in and I'll waste precious time I could be working. Sigh.

This too shall pass. This too shall pass.

I took a mostly me day today. We had breakfast in town together -- yum. And, then came home and I split. I went to Costco -- always delightful. I went to Wendy's for lunch. I stopped at Quail Hollow Ranch on my way home and took a walk. It was too swampy to do the walk I wanted to do but I saw these amazingly tiny flowers on my way. (Click on it to see it with one of my keys in the pic for comparison.) At Quail Hollow Ranch, they were having a Reptile event so I ran home and got everyone else and we went back. We got to hold snakes and Bearded Dragons. The Boy Wonder wants a Beardie badly and I've told him he can get one when he's 10. I loved the Beardie I held today. So cool. We also loved the other snakes. Pretty cool. Then we took a drive and went up to Loch Lomond. So fun. Took a short walk. I took a ton of pics (see Flickr). Lastly, we stopped at Ben Lomond Market and got dinner. YUM. It was a great day. For tomorrow, I work!
